An important day, set aside to celebrate and observe the importance and
impacts of all types of forests. Forests, of all kind, play a vital role in our
daily lives. Almost 1.6 billion people, depend on forests for livelihood.
The international Forest day is observed once in every year on March 21. It
was established in 2012. The aim of this celebration is to create awareness,
regarding the importance of all types of forests. Therefore, it is required of
all countries to undertake local, national and international activities
involving trees and forests.
The theme of International Forest Day is "Forests and Sustainable production and consumption".
Many aspects of our lives are connected to Forests in a way or another. We
celebrate Forest Day to raise awareness about the importance of forests in
our lives.
What is the importance of Forests in our daily lives?
1- Forests provide clean air and water, acting as natural air fresheners.
2- Forests not only acts as natural filters but they provide means of
livelihoods for many communities.
3- The world depends on Forests, directly for shelter, provision, feeding,
medicine and income.
4- Tree woods supply a safe-abode for people. It helps with safety, clean
drinking a water and food, free of bacteria.
5- Wood acquired from the trees help in developing shelter and several,
numerous utensils and furnitures.
