InsectoSec Tape, a bedbug tape, is described by Andermatt as being "long-lasting, functional and effective against all life stages of bed bugs (Cimex lectularius), including those resistant to the commonly applied insecticides". This was said when Insectotape was successfully launched in March at PestEx 2022 by Andermatt UK.
It was also said that this bedbug tape contains diatomaceous earth that can be used to discretely prevent and control bed bug infestations. Diatomaceous earth is a natural product made from fossilised silica algae that is not harmful to people or pets if ingested or touched.
According to Andermatt, InsectoSec Tape is a paper tape designed to create a dark and very small tunnel with attractive crevices into which the bedbugs can hide and once the bedbugs comes in contact with the tape, the bugs die from desiccation as the diatomaceous earth contained within absorbs their protective wax layer.
Andermatt mentioned that the tape comes in 30m rolls which can easily be cut with scissors to fit unnoticeably on any furniture and it should be applied to the hidden surfaces likely to be inhabited by bed bugs, for example the underside of beds, behind bedside tables or headboards. However, it does not require any maintenance and it is effective for up to two years.
Dr Andrew Brown, Andermatt UK Managing Director concluding the launch at PestEx 2022 said, "The interest in InsectoSec Tape was very impressive as Pest professionals and experts were quick to receive and see the unique opportunities offerred by the product."
