The All Progressives Congress (APC) has alleged that fifth columnists, working in collaboration with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), are responsible for the scarcity of fuel and new naira notes.
It will be recalled that the APC Presidential Candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at a campaign rally on Wednesday, in Ogun State, decried the hardship Nigerians currently go through in sourcing for fuel and the new naira notes.
The former Lagos State governor alleged that fuel scarcity and hoarding of new notes were attempts by saboteurs to ensure he would not win the February 25 presidential election.
In its reaction, the PDP, on Wednesday, said Tinubu was “trying to blackmail President Muhammadu Buhari and blame the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government over his looming devastating rejection by Nigerians and that it is unfortunate that Asiwaju Tinubu is trying to hoodwink Nigerians by seeking to exonerate himself and blame others in the Buhari led-APC administration from the biting fuel scarcity in the country, when in reality he (Asiwaju Tinubu) is known to be behind the insensitive and anti-people policies that have brought so much calamity to our country including the current persistent fuel scarcity”, a statement issued by the Atiku-Okowa Campaign Organisation read in part.
In a response on Thursday, the Presidential Campaign Council of the APC reaffirmed the position of its presidential flag bearer, Bola Tinubu, blaming some fifth columnists and the PDP as the saboteurs behind the fuel scarcity and scanty new naira notes.
In a statement issued by the Director, Media and Publicity of the PCC, Bayo Onanuga, said Nigerians should no longer be in doubt about those working in cahoots with fifth columnists in the system to inflict avoidable pains on our hapless people for a political end.
Onanuga also clarified that Tinubu never blamed President Muhammadu Buhari for the current challenges in the country.
