The Niger Delta Development Commission has disowned a fake email account allegedly being used in sending messages to members of the public by some faceless persons. It said the perpetrators of such acts were ‘dubious’ elements trying to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
The NDDC Director, Corporate Affairs, Dr Ibitoye Abosede, disclosed this in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Wednesday and made available to journalists.
He said that the attention of the Niger Delta Development Commission has been drawn to the activities of a malicious and dubious character that has been sending emails to members of the public, pretending to be a staff of the commission while using a non-NDDC email account. He wishes to advise members of the public to beware of these fake online accounts created to dupe unsuspecting members of the public and in the process, bringing the NDDC and its management to disrepute.
He made it clear that NDDC conducts its operations using only official NDDC email addresses and has never conducted its operations using non-NDDC email addresses and therefore urges the public to beware of fraudsters who are out to tarnish the image of the NDDC. He urged the stakeholders and the general public to be vigilant adding that those who have genuine businesses with NDDC should please endeavour to cross-check facts at the commission’s official website.
