A non-profit organization known as the Wild Africa Fund (WAF) has emphasized the need for robust legislation and effective enforcement measures to safeguard endangered species within the country.

During the launch of a campaign aimed at raising awareness about the perils faced by endangered species in Nigeria, which coincided with the annual Endangered Species Day, an event dedicated to commemorating and taking action to protect threatened and endangered species. The group appealed to the National Assembly to approve the Endangered Species Conservation and Protection Bill. Furthermore, they encouraged Nigerians to actively contribute to the preservation of endangered species.

WAF expressed its optimism that once enacted, the bill would play a vital role in combating wildlife and forest-related crimes prevalent in the country.
