The Nigerian Navy recently intercepted a boat in Bayelsa State suspected of carrying stolen crude oil. Commodore Olushina Ojebode, the Commander of the NNS SOROH, announced this during a press conference held on Sunday in Yenagoa. The naval troops involved in the operation successfully recovered two AK-47 rifles, six AK-47 magazines, and 133 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
According to Commodore Ojebode, the interception took place during a water patrol at the Gbaram community of Agbadam-Foropa, where the naval forces encountered six armed men on a speedboat. In compliance with established regulations and standard operating procedures, the boat was rendered inoperable.
Commodore Ojebode expressed the Navy's commitment to ensuring security within Nigeria's maritime domain. The interception and recovery of stolen crude oil, as well as the confiscation of weapons, demonstrate the Navy's dedication to combating illegal activities in the region.
The Nigerian Navy will continue to play a vital role in safeguarding the nation's maritime resources and maintaining law and order in the area.
