A two-day retreat focusing on the theme "Utilizing Expertise of Retired Inspectors General of Police for Effective Policing in Nigeria" is set to take place at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The retreat is scheduled from Monday, August 21st to Wednesday, August 23rd, 2023. The event aims to gather retired Inspectors General of Police alongside notable figures including AIG Nuhu Ribadu (rtd), the National Security Adviser, Dr. Solomon Arase, Chairman of the Police Service Commission, and Dr. Olukayode Egbetokun, the Acting Inspector General of Police.
The Chief Host for the retreat will be Seyi Makinde, the Executive Governor of Oyo State. According to a statement from the Police Service Commission, the retreat will feature presentations on pertinent subjects such as the current state of police readiness, challenges, prospects, and strategic measures to reinstate the Nigerian Police Force's importance in the nation's internal security framework.
Additionally, an interactive session will explore the significance of incorporating the expertise of retired IGPs in the effective administration of internal security within Nigeria. Alhaji Aliyu Attah, a retired Inspector General of Police and Chairman of the Committee of Retired Inspectors General of Police, is spearheading the retreat, which marks the first of its kind in the committee's history.
