Minister of Works, David Umahi, to Commence Federal Road Inspection Within Two Weeks

Following his announcement during a press conference at the Federal Ministry of Works in Abuja, Minister of Works David Umahi has pledged to initiate a comprehensive inspection and evaluation of all federal roads within the next two weeks.

Speaking after the swearing-in ceremony of 45 ministers on Monday, Umahi emphasized his commitment to eliminating bureaucratic delays, ensuring that no pending files remain unattended for more than two hours without valid justifications.

He said he is going to be on the field tomorrow, he will share my address with us tomorrow as he has already indicated his intent to meet with the contractors. After receiving briefings from the Heads of Departments, they will engage with the contractors because he is not an individual confined to an office space; he is someone who prefers to work in the field.

He further elaborated that With the grace of God and with the assistance of some people in that department, he will commence inspections on the Lokojo-Benin Road and Lokoja-Abuja Road. Following this week and into the subsequent week, which marks the two-week timeline, he will embark on road inspections. he will only rest once he has observed all ongoing projects as well as those they intend to undertake.

Umahi's background as a field-oriented individual, rather than one tied to a desk, guides his approach to the task ahead. He underlined that the ministry's panel of experts will embark on tours spanning the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria. The objective is to assess the state of the nation's road infrastructure and formulate strategies to enhance the overall quality of life for Nigerians.
