The Rivers State Government has directed its Immunization and Primary Healthcare Task Force to intensify efforts in strengthening the foundational layer of the state's healthcare system.
Prof Ngozi Nma Odu, Deputy Governor of Rivers State and Chair of the Task Force, emphasized this directive during the 2nd Quarter meeting held at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
Describing the Task Force as a multidisciplinary and multisectoral entity, Odu urged its members to solidify their contributions to the healthcare system in the state.
Recognizing the significance of the primary healthcare system, Odu emphasized that immunization is an integral part of it. She encouraged the team to work diligently to decrease the prevalence of preventable diseases.
Odu highlighted the vital role of primary healthcare as the cornerstone of the nation's healthcare delivery system, underscoring the reason for the establishment of the committee.
She stated that the goal should be for Rivers State to become a shining example in nationwide immunization achievements. A healthy and peaceful community fosters development. With elections concluded, the focus is now on governance. Dedication and prayers are crucial in delivering the fruits of democracy.
