Police Detain Six Suspects in Rivers DPO Case

The Rivers State Police Command has apprehended six individuals from Odiemudie in Akoh Kingdom, Ahoada East Local Government Area, in connection with the murder of Superintendent of Police Mr. Bako Angbashim, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ahoada Police Division.

This incident, perpetrated by cultists, resulted in a severe security crisis in the region. Following the DPO's killing, Governor Siminalaye Fubara expressed concern and offered a N100 million reward for the capture of the prime suspect, Gift Okpara Okpolowu, also known as 2baba.

Law enforcement, led by Police Commissioner Nwonyi Emeka, initiated extensive security operations to restore peace in the affected area. In response to the situation, Governor Fubara convened an emergency security council meeting attended by various security agency heads in the state.

The Police Service Commission's Chairman, Dr. Solomon Arase, condemned the murder of SP Bako Angbashim and vowed to support efforts to bring the culprits to justice, emphasizing the resilience of the police force in combating criminality.

Additionally, the police spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, reported the arrest of six suspects and the evacuation of the community for safety reasons, while a new DPO, SP Zuokumor Richard, was assigned to the division to continue the investigation and maintain security.
