The Lagos State Government has distributed a total of N2.017 billion in retirement benefits to 644 retirees during the 101st batch Retirement Bond Certificate presentation ceremony held at Alausa, Ikeja.
Speaking during the event, Mr. Babalola Obilana, the Director-General of the Lagos State Pension Commission (LASPEC), explained that this payment represents the retirement benefits accrued to these individuals for their service before the commencement of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) in 2007.
Obilana emphasized that this occasion serves as a celebration of the outstanding retirees who have dedicated their time, energy, and talents to serving Lagos State.
He highlighted that the retirement bond certificates signify more than just financial rewards; they embody the trust and confidence the state has in its retirees and symbolize the lasting impact they have made in shaping Lagos State into the Center of Excellence it is today.
Mr. Olawale Musa, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Establishments, Training, and Pensions, commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for prioritizing the welfare of retired public service employees.
Musa advised the retirees to manage their funds prudently and make informed decisions when considering investment options. He also encouraged them to reach out to LASPEC or the ministry for any pension-related information or further clarifications, expressing his admiration for the retirees' exceptional contributions to the development of Lagos State and wishing them a joyful and fulfilling retirement.
