The European Commission has announced a significant commitment of €500,000 (equivalent to $536,545) in disaster response equipment and humanitarian funding to Libya.
Several EU countries, including Germany, Romania, and Finland, have pledged support in the form of tents, field beds, blankets, 80 generators, food supplies, hospital tents, and water tanks, as outlined by the commission.
This humanitarian funding will be directed towards organizations actively engaged in providing essential health, water, and sanitation supplies on the ground.
The decision to assist Libya came after devastating floods resulted in the tragic loss of over 5,000 lives, prompting a plea for assistance from Libya's representation at the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.
Additionally, the Turkish government has pledged to dispatch three airplanes carrying rescue teams to aid in the distribution of relief supplies.
