Residents of Sagamu in Ogun State are living in fear as a renewed battle for supremacy between the Eiye and Aiye confraternities has led to the deaths of over 20 young men, including secondary school students.
The violent clashes have been taking place since Friday, spreading fear throughout the town as people are concerned about stray bullets.
The conflict has primarily centered around areas such as Agbowa behind Ewusi Palace, Makun, Ijagba, Ajaka, Isale Oko, and Sabo. Innocent victims have been caught in the crossfire, and some students preparing for the new school term were tragically killed.
Authorities and residents are calling for decisive action against these criminals, as the senseless bloodshed tarnishes Sagamu's reputation. There is also concern about the prevalence of drugs in the town, with many of these individuals associated with drug use.
The situation has prompted calls for a comprehensive approach involving law enforcement, community leaders, and politicians to address the root causes of the conflict.
The Ogun State Police Command has deployed additional officers to address the crisis, but the community seeks a broader strategy to end this violence.
