Unilorin Vice-Chancellor Announces Free Data for Staff Amid Fuel Subsidy Changes

The University of Ilorin's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, announced plans to offer free data to university staff to alleviate the impact of the fuel subsidy removal.

He made this statement during an interview marking his first anniversary in office. Egbewole emphasized his administration's commitment to the welfare of both staff and students, aiming to enhance their productivity.

He acknowledged the challenging economic situation in the country, which has affected the university community, and assured them that his administration was determined to mitigate the effects of the subsidy removal.

Additionally, he mentioned plans for a rail project to connect the campus with the town and efforts to improve transportation for students and staff.

The university has also rehabilitated roads within the staff quarters and is working on providing more hostel accommodation for students, with plans to secure funding for additional bed spaces. Egbewole also encouraged private sector investment in student housing.
