A new attractant has been developed to help monitor a serious economic pest of soft fruits including grapes, plums, cherries, currants, strawberries, raspberries and blackberries by the Scientists in Cheshire.

According to Dr Sam Jones, the IPS (The International Pheromone Systems) Technical DIRECTOR, explained during the launching that IPS is delighted that their products performed so well in the trials and they are now able to offer formulation to their customers.

This was after the International Pheromone Systems (IPS) team has spent three years developing this special formulation, trap and independent trials in Switzerland have shown that the new products can perform 300%  (percent) than the current market leading products.

Dr Sam Jones, explained further that the global fresb fruit trade and the ability of the larvae to hide in the fruit undetected until after transportation both helps to facilitate the increasing distribution of the pest and give its very rapid spread throughout the UK and the rest of Europe in recent years.

IPS decided that it was important to invest resources into a product that can help fruits farmers and importers to monitor and trap these insects.
